The Royal Gothenburg Yacht Club has natured the legacy of sailing for 150 years and the sport of sailing has always been in focus. Over the years the club has held challenges in the America’s cup, Volvo Ocean Race entries, World match racing tour events and off course numerous medals in the Olympic Games. In fact the club has held representation every Olympic Games over the past couple of decades and conquered 11 Olympic medals. Therefore it is with great pride that we invite participants to the GKSS Olympic Class Regatta 2010.
The regatta will be held in Långedrag, Göteborg, Sweden on May (7th) 8th-9th 2010.
Långedrag yacht harbor is the home and heart of the yacht club just ten minutes outside downtown Göteborg. The waters outside the yacht club is proven challenging and has trained generations of sailors, with the clubs facilities supporting the racers. We welcome you to Göteborg to test your skills and to enjoy the Swedish hospitality the year that our club celebrates its 150th anniversary.
The event will be sailed in the classes;
Laser, Laser Radial, Women’s and Men’s 470, 49er, Women’s Matchracing (three person boat Elliot) and in the youth classes; 29er, 420 and Europe Dinghy.
The club will in conjunction with the regatta and in cooperation with the Swedish Sailing Federation organize clinics and training camps for the different classes. Further information on the regatta and Notice of Race will be published on this site until the event starts.
