In Långedrag you can keep on sailing until the sea freezes! We want to give as many people as possible a chance to try out and develop their skills in the sport we love.
You don’t have to have your own boat; our boats are in the water from March until December. As a subscriber in GKSS MRC, you not only get to train and compete, you get to keep sailing until the sea freezes!
The GKSS Match Race Center has four top-equipped boats at your disposal. Training, racing and corporate sailing events are planned so that the risk of collisions is minimized. All so that you can sail as much as possible!
There are different ways to be a member of the GKSS Match Race Center. Today we have 24 crews who train regularly out on the waters off Långedrag. We offer seasonal subscriptions, match racing courses and one-off rentals.
If you are already a good team and are anxious to get out and sail, you can buy a one-year subscription. The teams range from elite sailors to rookies, which means we can always find a suitable sparring partner for you out on the waters off Långedrag, and back at the dock sailors can exchange advice and tips while rigging and derigging.
If you want to develop in the sport of match racing but don’t have a crew, you can get started by participating in one of our match racing courses. Here you get to train and learn the basics of match racing together with like-minded people. We have courses in the spring and autumn in Långedrag, and during the second week of July you have an opportunity to improve your sailing skills for 5 days on Marstrand. You will be coached intensively on the same waters and in the same boats as the pros. The courses often yield new crews who then get a training subscription.
Fine-tune your company or your team – sailing is a team sport!
All the members of a crew have different but equally important functions: problem-solving, strategic thinking, tactical decisions and physical work. The way it used to be, with a skipper that gave all the orders and told people exactly what to do, is just as inefficient on a sailboat as in a company. The GKSS Match Race Center wants you to experience sun, good food, teamwork, the salty taste of the sea and the sweetness of victory.
We give you an opportunity to feel the strength of being part of a team, of working together to drive a boat forward towards the goal you have set up. Invite your customers or colleagues out for a day on the sea. You don’t have to know anything about sailing, since you have an expert sailor at the rudder who works together with you to challenge the sea and the forces of the wind in a battle with your rivals.
After a day or a few hours at sea, food always tastes good. Sit on the pier and enjoy a fish stew with aioli or top off the day with a regatta dinner and toast the victors.
Match racing is a tough sport, and you’ll feel it in your whole body for the next day or two. But the really important feeling will stay with you for much longer.
You will find us both in Långedrag and in Marstrand, and the western sea always lies open for a fantastic experience.
Buy one or more boats
Would you like to be a partner in the GKSS Match Race Center? More and more companies are realizing the great value of sailing. A boat and a crew offer an excellent display platform, and sailing in itself is a perfect way to fine-tune a team or to use as a launching pad for successful meetings with customers. You can “buy” a boat on an annual basis in several different ways. No matter which way you choose, you can make sure your company name and logo will be seen on the hull, sail, cover and flags. Your company gets to sail match races under GKSS’s auspices and you will be seen on GKSS’s website and in Seglarbladet.
