Founded in 1860, GKSS is one of Sweden’s largest sports clubs with 4,200 members and the leading sailing club. Our core activities are yacht racing, training and courses aimed at young people but also at adults who want to improve their sailing skills.
Located in Långedrag, the GKSS marina has 550 slips and a clubhouse with office, restaurant, and conference and study premises plus a changing room with shower and sauna. Our clubhouse is a gathering-place for active members, both summer and winter. Racing, sailing camps, training and various corporate events are held throughout the summer season. Training groups gather here during the winter to plan the coming season’s racing calendar, discuss tactics, make important decisions and interpret racing rules. In the winter we also have an extensive programme of courses and training of instructors.
All major competitive events, including World and European Championships, the GKSS Match Cup and the Marstrand Regatta, are held in Marstrand. The clubhouse, called “Korvetten”, serves as a regatta office and is a natural gathering-place for race participants and officials. Korvetten also houses training camps for elite sailors and is used for conferences the rest of the time.
