The Royal Gothenburg Yacht Club, GKSS, wants to welcome you to the Dragon Gold Cup 2010. The races take place the 5th through the 13th of August 2010 in Marstrand, 47 km north of Gothenburg.
Celebration and history
In 2010 GKSS celebrates its 150th anniversary and as it is also the tenth time we have the pleasure of arranging the Dragon Gold Cup, there are two anniversaries to celebrate.
For more than a hundred years the waters around Marstrand have been the main arena for international yachting events on the Swedish west coast. Marstrand has an interesting history; both its once important commercial port and the impressive fortress. To people in the region Marstrand today is a summer resort, offering interesting sailing events and a diversified cultural life. The island offers lots of shops, art galleries, bars, cafés, restaurants and sea-bathing. Many musical shows are performed during the summer.

The event
The Dragon Gold Cup races will be held fairly close to shore but in the open sea west of Marstrand where wind and sea offer the best sailing. In the afternoon the sea-breeze will provide optimal sailing conditions. After Sail every day at the GKSS club house.
As organizers GKSS will provide a full social program with lots of activities for both participants and their families. There will be an Opening Party, After Sail and a Regatta Dinner. The Prize Giving Ceremony, open to all participants and their families, will end the week.

The New Corinthian Trophy will be awarded to the best yacht where all members in the crew are "ISAF Sailor Classification Group 1".
To obtain an "ISAF Sailor Classification", please go to www.sailing.org and register. We recommend you to do it well in advance, because it takes some time to get the answer from ISAF. Please read more here.
